invisalign-welwyn

We, at Neel Dentistry, are pleased to offer our patients Invisalign Welwyn, which is the result of years of technological research. We are all very different and, therefore, have different requirements. A dental appliance that straightens your teeth needs to be adaptable so that it can be tailored to the unique shape of your teeth. Invisalign Welwyn provides a truly advanced aligner that can be adjusted to the shape of the mouth, gum line and many other individual patient requirements.

Why would I need them?

If you have teeth that are misaligned, crowded or have gaps in between them, then this non-invasive treatment could help correct your condition.

How does an aligner differ from a brace?

Over the past decades, braces have usually been prescribed for children and were not the most attractive oral appliance. However, dental science and technology have improved the old-fashioned braces, developing them into a far better and more comfortable device.

Braces consist of stainless, clear or teeth-coloured ceramic or plastic brackets that are bonded to the front of the teeth. There are also lingual brackets that can be fitted behind the teeth and mini braces that are similar to the traditional ones but smaller. Traditional braces consist of metal brackets, wires and bands, which are wrapped around each tooth.

Aligners, on the other hand, are essentially a series of clear gum shields that fit over your top and bottom teeth; they are far more comfortable and less conspicuous.

What is involved

In the first instance, you will need to book and attend a dental appointment with us so that we can conduct a thorough examination of your teeth, jaw and gums. We will discuss your particular condition and advise you on whether Invisalign Welwyn is right for you. Once it has been established that this treatment will be effective to correct your condition and you agree to the treatment, we will brief you about the process and its duration.

We will take photographs, x-rays and 3D digital scans of your mouth so that we can create a precise model of your teeth and the entire mouth. The technology associated with this treatment allows us to show you on a screen the progressive stages of the treatment and a virtual view of the result. We will send all your information to the laboratory so that they can fabricate your bespoke aligners. Each aligner has a slightly different orientation that is designed to gradually move your teeth to the desired location.

Fitting and treatment

We will contact you to attend another appointment once your aligners have arrived and proceed to fit them to your teeth, making any minor adjustments if necessary. You will be required to wear your aligners for at least 22 hours a day for between three and four weeks before attending another appointment to have the next aligner fitted. You may remove the aligners for eating, drinking, brushing and flossing, but you must stick to the 22-hours-per-day wearing schedule.

Treatment completed

Once you have completed your treatment, we will provide you with a single retainer to be worn at night to help your teeth settle into their new positions.
