Tooth misalignment affects a high percentage of people both in their younger years and older years, age is no barrier. Luckily, there are a number of dental treatments and procedures which are available to patients to help realign wonky teeth and boost an individual’s confidence. In the past, chunky metal braces which were not particularly subtle were the only option available to patients seeking to realign their teeth. Whilst patients in their teens were a little more willing to receive the treatment, many adults shied away from the treatment due to the lack of subtlety in appearance. Improvements within the dentistry world have therefore not only been subject to advances within the effectiveness of the treatments and procedures, but also with appliance appearance.
What are they?
Quite simply put, Invisalign Welwyn at Neel Dentistry involves transparent, removable retainers which allow the patient to go about their daily lives with minimal discomfort, whilst working on realigning their teeth and creating a winning smile.
These inconspicuous retainers put the majority of the treatment into the hands of the patient as it requires their dedication and commitment.
How to get on board with the Invisalign Welwyn treatment
To start your Invisalign Welwyn journey with us you will attend a consultation where it will be decided whether this is the best treatment for your individual case. Once this has been decided an impression of your teeth will be taken using a digital scanner, this then enables us to provide you, the patient, with a 3D model of your teeth followed by a simulation of what the results over a period of time will look like. Visualising the end result often helps patients with their commitment to the treatment, as once they have seen what it can look like there is no reason to doubt or hold back on the treatment.
From these scans custom-made retainers which fit perfectly to your teeth will be created. These retainers are to be worn for approximately 22 hours a day with removal happening for times of food consumption and during your daily oral hygiene process. After around 2 weeks, depending on the individual case, you will be required to switch to the next set of retainers which were provided. These will also be worn for the same time as before and will continue to push your teeth gradually into a new position.
Whilst the majority of the treatment is left within your own hands, it is necessary to have check-ups with us approximately every 4 to 6 weeks just to see what progress is being made, to discuss any changes or concerns that you have and to provide you with the next set of retainers. The flexibility of Invisalign has made it understandably popular, but it is important to stress it is most suitable for those with minor to moderate misalignments with their teeth.
Once the treatment plan has ended and you are happy with your new, perfected smile, you will be provided with night time retainers which just help to maintain your new dazzling smile.
